A Foundational Experience
Nsengo was born from the experience of Emelyne Bahanda, then a UNDP officer in the Republic of Congo.
In 2013, she lost 13,000 tomato plants due to an irrigation issue, and then a hectare of onions due to an insect invasion. This personal experience prompted her to reflect on the challenges faced by smallholder farmers.
A few years later, in Cameroon, she met with farmers to understand their reality. Drawing on her background in development finance, she decided to create Nsengo.
A Shared Reality
This experience reflects a reality shared by millions of African smallholder farmers who lack appropriate tools to grow and secure their activity.
Nsengo offers a circular, traceable, and sustainable model to make agricultural finance more efficient, fairer, and better aligned with field realities.
